An autopsy revealed last week that Ultimate Warrior, the pro-wrestler who recently returned to the WWE after many years away, was killed by a heart attack.

TMZ reported that the cause of death — "atherosclerotic/arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease" — was deemed "natural," meaning no drugs or alcohol were directly involved. Maricopa County spokeswoman Cari Gerchick said the autopsy was conducted Thursday by the county Medical Examiner's Office.

Ultimate Warrior, known as James Hellwig out of the ring, collapsed in a hotel parking lot in Arizona while walking with his wife, Dana, to the car on April 8.

He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. He was 54 years old, and is survived by his wife and two daughters.

Ultimate Warrior had been away from the WWE for 18 years, and his induction to the Hall of Fame in early April marked a long-overdue return for many fans. It was announced at the ceremony that he had signed a new contract with the company to serve as an ambassador.

He was one of the most famous wrestlers in the 1980s, and his passing was mourned by everyone from Hulk Hogan to The Rock.
