Actor and comedian Tom Arnold showed off his dramatic 89-pound weight loss at the South by Southwest Film Festival in Austin, Texas, this week, saying earlier this year he dropped the weight for his wife and newborn son.
"Every day I'm working at it. It can be challenging and some days I do better than others," Arnold, who turned 55 last week, told People magazine in February. "Every other time I lost weight
and got to my goal, I ended up gaining it all back. This time it's a lifestyle change and it's also for my wife [Ashley] and son [Jax]. So every day I work on it. I just have to be aware of it and it gets a little bit easier."

Arnold reportedly lost the weight in a mere nine months by dieting, eating chicken and couscous every day, and a strict regimen of cardiovascular exercise twice a day.
In a January interview with People, Arnold said he had a lot of shame
when he tipped the scales at 287 pounds, often drinking up to 15 diet sodas daily. His breakfasts consisted of six-egg omelets with cheese, six turkey sausage links, and oatmeal. His dinners sometimes were an extra-large meat pizza along with breadsticks dipped in cheese.
"One time I had a tailor come over and sew the weights into my suits – this is what you wear when you are 210, 220, 240, 300. That saved me the time of going into my closet and getting so upset and frustrated," the 6-foot-2 Arnold said.
"The moment I saw [Jax] I realized he deserves the best," he told People, adding that his favorite exercise now is rolling around on the floor with his son.
Arnold was born in Iowa and attended the University of Iowa before starting his career as a stand-up comedian. He went on to star in a number of television shows and movies and hosted Fox Sports Net’s former “The Best Damn Sports Show Period” that lasted from 2001 to 2009. He was married to actress Roseann Barr for four years after he was a writer on Barr’s “Roseann” show. Arnold currently plays Georgie Caruso on FX’s “Sons of Anarchy.”
