"Snooki & Jwoww" co-star Snooki's fiancé, Jionni LaValle, got a bit jealous on Tuesday night's second-season premiere of the MTV show after an unlikely suitor sent a toy for her 5-month-old child. That pal was Newt Gingrich.
The former Republican presidential candidate and House speaker sent a stuffed elephant to the 4-foot-8 star to give to her son.
"Newt gave this to me," said 24-year-old Snooki, hugging the plushy toy. "Newt. That political guy. I met Newt Gingrich in LA., and he got Lorenzo an elephant."
LaValle, 24, was not amused.
"Ummm, I have no idea who Newt is. I've never heard of him, but he's sending my fiancé gifts," said LaValle.
Snooki tried to explain who Gingrich was to her soon-to-be husband: "He, like, tried to run for president or something. He's really cute, though."
In July, the two met and hit it off on Jay Leno's "Tonight Show." The 11-time best-selling author Gingrich congratulated the loud, self-proclaimed "guidette" on making the New York Times' Best Seller List.
"I am trying to be like you," quipped the spotlight-loving celebrity who got her start on "Jersey Shore" and is probably best known for her drinking.
Gingrich has authored 19 books. Snooki's best seller is "A Shore Thing," which came out in 2011. She also penned "Gorilla Beach" and "Confessions of a Guidette."
When Leno encouraged Gingrich to make an appearance on her reality show, Snooki proclaimed her excitement.
"That would be awesome! You could drink, like, Ron Ron juice and stuff," she exclaimed.
This isn't the first time Snooki has made BFFs with a Republican candidate. She bonded with Sen. John McCain over their shared dislike of President Barack Obama's "tanning tax" that was part of the health care reform law.
"McCain would never put a 10 percent tax on tanning, because he's pale and he would probably want to be tan," she tweeted in 2010.
Like Gingrich, Snooki referred to the former presidential candidate as "really cute."
