Rising WNBA star Skylar Diggins is showing much more of herself these days as a featured model in Sports Illustrated's 50th anniversary Swimsuit Issue.

Diggins, the former Notre Dame basketball player who is entering her second season with the Tulsa Shock, posed for a beach spread, which was shot in the British Virgin Islands. The 23-year-old is shown wearing a number of different bikinis.

One shot shows Diggins standing on the sand under a tree, while another displays her on the beach partly covered in blue water. Soccer star Alex Morgan and pro surfer Anastasia Ashley are other athletes featured in the issue.

Diggins tweeted a photo of herself in the magazine.

The 50th anniversary issue came out Tuesday. The magazine released a cover shot last week, which showed models Chrissy Teigen, Lily Aldridge, and Nina Agdal posing together.

The issue also has a feature with supermodel Kate Upton, photographed in a zero gravity space chamber.

"I didn't really know how I was going to approach modeling swimsuits," Diggins said in a video on SportsIllustrated.com. "I had never modeled in a swimsuit before. As the shoot went along, I got more and more comfortable. That really helped me get some great shots.

"I loved the pictures. I think this was a great change of pace for me, speaking as an athlete, now, to show my femininity. I think that every woman is beautiful in her own way," she continued. "It’s great to be a part of this magazine that celebrates not only models, but athletes as well, and puts it into perspective that all women are beautiful."

Among the models and supermodels in the Swimsuit Issue was Barbie, the quintessential entrepreneur for the Legendary Women feature.
