Sky Ferreira, the indie-pop singer songwriter, was arrested for drug possession with her boyfriend and fellow musician Zachary Cole Smith early Saturday morning at a traffic stop in Saugerties, N.Y.

The 21-year-old Ferreira is known for her hit single, "Everything Is Embarrassing."

Authorities allegedly found the couple in possession of ecstasy and heroin after pulling over their Ford pickup truck that had stolen license plates, according to the Daily Freeman.

Upon searching the vehicle, police said they found a "plastic bag containing 42 decks of heroin."

Smith, 28, was charged with "one count of possession of stolen property and one count of aggravated unlicensed driving," as well as multiple violations stemming from an unregistered motor vehicle, reported.

Ferreira also reportedly resisted arrest, though she was not charged for it.

Following their 12:30 a.m. arrest, both Smith and Ferreira were arraigned in Saugerties Village Court and sent to the Ulster County Jail, the Daily Freeman reported.

They were released at approximately 1 p.m. after posting bond, with Ferreira paying $1,500 bail and Smith paying $2,500 bail, a jail spokesman said.

"I'm not a saint, but I'm also 21 years old," Ferreira told Billboard in July backstage at the Pitchfork Music Festival when asked about her perceived association with drugs. "Yeah, I do go out, but I'm not a drug addict by any means, because you can't do this [performing] if you're a drug addict."

"If I was a drug addict, there would already be a ton of s— out there showing that I was a drug addict, you know?" she added. "I would be behaving like one. I think it's partially who I hang out with, the way I look and the way I dress."

Despite the arrest, Smith, who is the lead guitarist of the Brooklyn-based indie rock band DIIV, went on to perform Saturday night at the Basilica SoundScape festival in Hudson, N.Y.

On Thursday, Ferreira will be beginning her tour in Philadelphia, promoting her debut album, "Night Time, My Time," which was announced Friday night, just hours before she was arrested.
