Sarah Guyard, the Paris-born Cirque du Soleil aerialist who died tragically in a weekend accident during a show in Las Vegas, was a passionate mother of two who had spent more than 22 years as an acrobatic entertainer.

Aerialist Sarah Guyard, 31, died Saturday night after falling 50 feet during a performance of Cirque du Soleil's "Ka" at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. It was the first reported death from an onstage accident in Cirque's 30-year history.

The show has been cancelled indefinitely while Guyard's death is investigated.

"The entire Cirque du Soleil family is deeply saddened by the accidental death of Sarah (Sassoon) Guyard, artist on the production 'Ka,' that happened on Saturday, June 29, in Las Vegas," Cirque du Soleil said in a statement. "The artist's immediate family has been informed of the accident. Our thoughts are with her family and the entire Cirque du Soleil family."

Nicknamed "Sassoon," Guyard joined the cast of "Ka" as an original cast member when it premiered in Las Vegas in 2004, according to the Las Vegas Sun.

Guyard graduated from the Anne Fratellini Art & Circus Academy and taught acrobatics on the side at Cirquefit, a circus and fitness program for kids, CNN reported.

Her students left messages on the company's Facebook page paying tribute to their beloved teacher.

"We will miss her terribly! She was an amazing teacher!" wrote one pupil.

Celebrities and Cirque du Soleil fans alike also showed their support for Guyard on Twitter.
