Gallup data shows married voters strongly favor Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney over President Barack Obama.
The data show that 54 percent of married couples prefer Romney and 39 percent choose Obama. Married voters have consistently voted for Republicans nominees by wide margins in recent elections.
Among nonmarried voters, Obama leads Romney, 56 percent to 35 percent, according to
Gallup.
“Marriage is a significant predictor of presidential vote choice even after income, age, race, gender, education, religiosity, region, and having minor children are statistically controlled for,” according to Gallup.
