Republican presidential contender Mitt Romney says he’s ready to take his campaign to “Saturday Night Live” and other popular television programs, but isn’t so sure about making an appearance on “The Daily Show” with satirist Jon Stewart.

“Jon Stewart? Ehhhhh, perhaps,” Romney replied when asked in an interview with the Boston Herald Tuesday which shows he’d like to go on. But maybe not so much, he added. “I’d much rather have a setting that’s fun, and give-and-take.”

Stewart, of course, is known for making fun of and taking apart politicians of all stripes during his comedy hour
quite often with them sitting right in front of him.

The Herald noted that he’s ready to take on Romney as well, quoting a Stewart spokesman as saying the former Massachusetts governor has “an open invitation” to appear anytime.

Romney told the Herald he would “love to go on” Saturday Night Live, where GOP candidate Jon Huntsman and other Republicans have appeared this year. He said he would also like to sit down with comedian Conan O’Brien on his show “Conan.”

A spokesman for O’Brien said, “We would love to have Mitt Romney on our show the next time he is in California.”
