After a shooting at a Reno medical office Tuesday, the gunman and another person were dead and two others were wounded near the Renown Regional Medical Center, officials said.

Police said one victim asked not to be identified, and they were withholding the name of the deceased shooter until his next of kin was told. Dr. Charles Gholdoian, 46, was killed and patient Shawntae Spears, 20, was injured, Reno Deputy Police Chief Mac Venzon said at a news conference.

Spears and an unidentified female victim suffered single gunshot wounds and are in critical condition at Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno, CNN reported.

Though no clear motive had been established, police said the attack wasn't random.

Reports of the shooting surfaced shortly after 2 p.m. local time, as officials from Renown Health and the University of Nevada-Reno Police Services used social media accounts to alert the public and confirm details.

"The police handled it in the best way possible," Kat Raco, an ophthalmic technician who works at the Nevada Advanced Medicine Building, told CNN. "They were very professional and calm. Everyone (in the office) stayed pretty calm."

The shooter began firing on the third floor of the building, Reno police spokeswoman Sharon Spangler told CNN. That led police to believe that the gunman had a specific target.
