The American public continues to have a poor view of Congress and although Democrats poll better than Republicans, neither party has any room for bragging rights, a new Washington Post-ABC News poll shows.

The poll found that 34 percent approved of the job congressional Democrats were doing and 60 percent disapproved. Just 23 percent approved of congressional Republicans and 71 percent disapproved.

Democrats also scored better among their own party than Republicans.

Some 65 percent of Democrats approved of the job their party was doing in Congress while 48 percent of Republicans approve of GOP lawmakers. Among conservative members of the GOP, just 37 percent approve of congressional Republicans.

Among independents, 25 percent approve of Democrats and 18 percent for Republicans, the Post reported.
