Gawker noted the photo “is a play on his long-time Twitter profile pic
in which he sits alone inside quite possibly the same ball pit.”
McKellen, who also starred as Gandalf in “Lord of the Rings,” shared news of the ceremony on his Facebook page
, posting a photo of himself showing off his “Doctor of Divinity” certificate and a black T-shirt with the word “Minister” across the chest.
“I did my part,” McKellen wrote.
McKellen announced in March that he was going to officiate at Stewart's wedding.
Asked about his qualifications, McKellen said: “In Massachusetts — we’re in the middle of America somewhere — you get anybody along, a friend, and I read out the words, Sunny and Patrick will then be married. I declare you man and wife,” he told E! Online
E! noted that the couple has been together for five years. Patrick, 73, and Ozell, a 35-year-old jazz singer, met at the Brooklyn Academy of Music.
The New York Daily News said the honeymoon is likely to be brief.
Stewart, who also starred in several “Star Trek" films, is scheduled to star with McKellen on the Harold Pinter drama “No Man’s Land” and on Samuel Beckett’s “Waiting for Godot.”
This is Sir Patrick’s third marriage. He married his first wife, Sheila Falconer, in 1966 and they separated in 1990. He married his second wife, Wendy Neuss, in 2000, and they divorced three years later. Stewart has two children from his first marriage.
Ozell’s website describes the singer as being “equally adept at jazz standards as George Harrison, Bonnie Raitt, and her own heartrending compositions.
