Paris Jackson Improves in Psych Unit, But Missed Cirque du Soleil

Paris Jackson is reportedly "getting better" after a suicide attempt last month landed her in a psychiatric facility, but she was still forced to miss Saturday's opening of the new Michael Jackson-inspired Cirque du Soleil show in Las Vegas.

Celebrities like Neil Patrick Harris, Justin Bieber, Allison Janney, and Alfre Woodard joined most of the Jackson family at Las Vegas' Mandalay Bay Saturday night for the debut of the second Cirque du Soleil show dedicated to the King of Pop: "Michael Jackson: One."

Cirque president Daniel Lamarre said he'd planned two Jackson-inspired shows "from the first day we got the rights from the (Jackson) estate," with the first production, "Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour," delivering a stadium-sized concert-type presentation and "One," a more intimate affair.

Despite mixed reviews and initial production problems, "Immortal" was a box-office smash. According to Forbes, it was the highest-grossing tour in the United States in 2011 and the second-highest in 2012.

"One" follows in its footsteps, but delivers a more Michael Jackson-centric storyline.

"[This show] is all about the music," Marlon Jackson told The Associated Press at the premiere. "This is part of giving back and sharing his legacy."

Though the night was meant to pay tribute to their brother, Marlon, Tito, and Jackie Jackson spoke briefly to reporters about their 15-year-old niece Paris Jackson, who was rushed to the hospital June 5 after reportedly trying to cut her wrists with a kitchen knife and ended up in the psych unit.

"She's going to be OK," Jackie Jackson said. "She's getting better."

Paris Jackson is reportedly recovering at a psychiatric facility at UCLA Medical Center, according to US Weekly. Her mother, Debbie Rowe, relayed a message from the teen on Twitter over the weekend (Rowe's account is linked to her Painted Desert Ranch in Palmdale, Calif.).

Rowe also responded to a message by actor Neil Patrick Harris, who posted about attending the "One" debut.
