The Lifetime cable television network has picked up a new reality series starring former “Dancing With the Stars” contestant Bristol Palin, the daughter of 2008 GOP vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin.

Along with fellow DWTS contestant Kyle Massey, Bristol Bristol had filmed a reality show that was picked up by the BIO channel and was scheduled to air late last year but never materialized.

The former Alaska governor’s daughter will be the focal point of “Bristol Palin: Life’s a Tripp.”

Lifetime has acquired the rights to 10 half-hour episodes that reveal the day-to-day happenings of the 21-year-old mother as she raises her 3-year-old son, Tripp.

According to a release from the network, the show will feature “never-before-granted access to Bristol’s real-life experiences growing into womanhood.”

It will additionally “reveal how she adjusts to her life in Alaska, where daily she faces the many pressures of raising her toddler son Tripp alone and maintains the close relationship she holds with her parents, former Alaska Governor and Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin and Todd, and siblings.”

The Bristol Palin reality show is already in production, and the network plans to air the series sometime during 2012.

Rob Sharenow, executive vice president of programming for Lifetime Networks, said the following in a statement: “From the first moment she was thrust into the public eye, Bristol and her son have been the subjects of a huge amount of curiosity and misunderstanding.”

“This show will reveal the real Bristol Palin and her journey as a daughter, mother, and a young woman making her way in the world,” Sharenow said.
