Oprah Winfrey tops the list of wannabe Clippers owners as more and more celebrities, billionaires, and media moguls toss their hats into the ring – either to actually own the LA franchise or just bask in the glow of all the attention.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver hit former Clippers owner Donald Sterling with a lifetime ban and a $2.5 million fine Tuesday, a day after recordings leaked of the 80-year-old allegedly criticizing his girlfriend for posting photos of herself with black people on social media.

"It bothers me a lot that you want to broadcast that you're associating with black people," a voice reportedly identified as Sterling says to her. "I'm just saying, in your . . . Instagrams, you don't have to have yourself with, walking with black people."

Despite the fact that Sterling insisted Wednesday that the NBA team "is not for sale," Silver said in his remarks that he would "urge the Board of Governors to exercise its authority to force a sale of the team and will do everything in my power to ensure that that happens."

Since Monday, speculation has been swirling about who could potentially be the next owner of the Clippers, with everyone from Oprah Winfrey to rapper Rick Ross named as contenders.

Here's a look at the biggest names rumored to be interested in purchasing the team.

OPRAH WINFREY – The media mogul is reportedly in talks with Hollywood music bigwig David Geffen and Oracle billionaire Larry Ellison to do a three-way purchase of the Clippers, her spokesperson told Reuters Wednesday.

"She thinks it would be a great thing for an important black American to own [another] franchise," Geffen told ESPN this week. "The team deserves a better group of owners who want to win . . . Larry would sooner die than fail. I would sooner die than fail. Larry's a sportsman. We've talked about this for a long time. Between the three of us, we have a good shot."

OSCAR DE LA HOYAAccording to the Los Angeles Times, the boxing legend signaled his interest in buying the NBA team in comments to reporters this week.

"The league has made it known that it wants more minorities involved, and as a proud Mexican-American, I will bring a different perspective to the NBA in general, and the Clippers in particular," he said. "I was born and raised in Los Angeles, I know what it takes to run a successful sports entity and nothing would make me happier than to bring an NBA Championship home to Southern California sports fans."

FLOYD MAYWEATHER JR. – Not to be outdone, the outspoken champion boxer also told the media he is "very, very interested in buying the Clippers."

RICK CARUSO – The billionaire real estate developer told Times Monday he would consider becoming the owner of the Clippers.
