Iranian filmmaker and journalist Banafsheh Zand says it is "truly shocking" to watch the Obama administration "bumbling and fumbling" over the Syria crisis, and in the bigger picture, with Iran.

"You either go whole hog for broke, you go the very end, you deal with Iran head-on, you make it a mission to put the boots on the ground, or you don't," Zand told "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.

Story continues below video.

"Because showing weakness, which is basically what [Secretary of State] Kerry and [President Barack] Obama have done up to now, is one of the things that Iran looks for and pushes for and tries to manipulate."

Zand, who makes documentaries and is an editor at Iran Press News, added: "Kerry and Obama have shown their hand to be weak, to be completely flaky, and have no policy whatsoever. They seem to be lost in the woods and shocked that, actually, their charm offensive hasn't gotten them anywhere."
