President Barack Obama is holding a three-point lead among likely voters over GOP challenger Mitt Romney. The president leads the former Massachusetts governor 49 percent to 46 percent, a New York Times/CBS News
Among registered voters, the Obama/Joe Biden ticket leads Romney/Paul Ryan 51 percent to 43 percent.
Obama continues to lead among women voters, holding a 12-point advantage over Romney while Romney leads among men by eight. Obama also leads among all age groups except those 65 or older. Those making less than $50,000 favor Obama by 21 points while Romney leads by 16 with those households making more than $100,000.
With less than two months to go before the November elections, 43 percent say they are more enthusiastic about the election, a gain of 10 points. About 25 percent of those surveyed said their lives were better off, with another 25 percent saying they were worse off.
