President Barack Obama has no business campaigning in 2012, under the “hope and change” slogan, Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus said Sunday on CBS’s “Face the Nation.”

Politico reported that Priebus said, “It sounds like the new slogan is no longer ‘hope and change.’ It’s, ‘Hey, it could’ve been worse.’ ”

Priebus told Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who also appeared on the broadcast, the political pitch to re-elect Obama “had already been proven false,” according to Politico.

“This has already been tested in a Democratic district,” he said. “These talking points have been tested, and they’re losing. They’re imploding.”

Priebus was referring to the recent election of Republican Bon Turner to a New York House seat.

Politico reported that earlier in the program, he joked, “Great bumper sticker Debbie. I hope it works for you.”
