North Korea has threatened to kill "human scum" defectors, the BBC said, for reporting that leader Kim Jong-un gave out copies of Adolf Hitler's "Mein Kampf" and praised the German dictator.

According to New Focus International, a website run by North Korean defectors, Kim presented translations of the manifesto to officials on his Jan. 8 birthday, and applauded Hitler's efforts to rebuild Germany in the 1930s.

"Kim Jong-un gave a lecture to high-ranking officials, stressing that we must pursue the policy ... in terms of nuclear and economic development," the report said, citing a source.

The North's police agency angrily called the report a "thrice-cursed crime" aimed at maligning its leader, The Telegraph reported.

"We are ... determined to take substantial measures to physically remove despicable human scum who are committing treasons," it said in a statement carried by the state-run Korean Central News Agency. "Sordid human scum will never be able to look up to the sky nor be able to find an inch of land to be buried after their death."

Hitler wrote his anti-Semitic memoir, which translates to My Struggle, while imprisoned in 1924 before he took power.

The Kim family has ruled North Korea with an iron fist for more than six decades. Kim Jong-Un, 29, took over the communist state after the death of his father Kim Jong-Il, in December 2011.

Citing an unnamed North Korean official in China, New Focus International said: "Mentioning that Hitler managed to rebuild Germany in a short time following its defeat in WWI, Kim Jong-un issued an order for the Third Reich to be studied in depth and asked that practical applications be drawn from it," the source said.

Kim Jong-un is no stranger to threats. In March 2013, North Korea threatened the U.S. with a "pre-emptive nuclear attack," and also threated to "wipe out" Baengnyeong Island, the scene of previous naval clashes.
