A New York City Pizza festival is being investigated after participants paid up to $75 for tickets and only got tiny slices of cold pizza.

The festival took place in a parking lot in Bushwick Saturday and was advertised as a “day long celebration of the dough, cheese, tasty sauces, and delicious toppings,” according to Gothamist.

“It was like the people from Fyre Festival decided to throw a pizza party,” attendee Connell Burke joked about the festival, referencing the supposed luxury music festival that served customers disaster relief tents and slices of cheese after the musicians canceled, Gothamist reported. Burke spent $150 for two tickets to the festival and planned to celebrate his girlfriend’s birthday there.

The festival’s organizer was reported to be Ishmael Osekre, who held an African food festival last summer that was called an “epic disaster,” Gothamist reported.

The Facebook event page for the festival claimed during the event that pizzas were not delivered as expected, and asked people not to come for the rest of the tastings. A make-up tasting was promised, NBC 4 reported.

The complaints reached Attorney General Eric Schneiderman’s office, and he opened an investigation into the festival on Monday. Complaints can be submitted on the Attorney General Office’s website.

Osekre blamed Hangry Garden for the failure, but co-founder Jeremy Asgari told Gothamist that he had not been paid as of the day of the festival and had to pull out. Ticket sellers varied between investigating the event and telling ticket holders they had to work with organizers to get refunds, NBC 4 reported.
