Mindy Kaling, star of the Fox comedy series "The Mindy Project," debuted in Vogue in its April issue and told the magazine she has no urge to be skinny.

One of Hollywood's rising comedic stars who has six Emmy nominations as a producer and writer for the former series "The Office," Kaling told Vogue that while she enjoys an occasional exercise and spin class or two, she doesn't want to be skinny.

"There's a whole list of things I would probably change about myself," Kaling told Vogue. "For example, I'm always trying to lose 15 pounds. But I never need to be skinny. I don't want to be skinny. I'm constantly in a state of self-improvement."

Kaling's humor is at times self-deprecating, making fun of herself as she did during her Vogue interview while trying out outfits in a dressing room.

"It takes supreme confidence to put this on and not belt it," Kaling said emerging from a dressing room. "When you're dealing with volume, you really need to go shopping with friends."

Friends are hardly a problem for Kaling, who has 2.77 million followers on Twitter. On Thursday, she shared briefly with fans about the Vogue article.

Her fans responded on social media as well about her Vogue debut.

Earlier this month, Fox announced that "The Mindy Project" would return for a third season along with "New Girl," "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" and "The Following," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
