“Miley Cyrus: MTV Unplugged” will highlight a “more intimate side of Cyrus,” according to an MTV news release. “Miley and her fans have always had an intimate and direct connection through her music, personality, and no-holds-barred attitude and the 'Unplugged' stage will serve as the perfect platform for her to show viewers what inspires and ignites her music and her passions."
Madonna performed at the Grammys with Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, singing “Same Love.”
It should be an exciting collaboration; as the U.K.’s Daily Mail pointed out, “They are both controversial performers who like to shock their fans.”
The Mail said Cyrus has compared herself to the older Madonna, and even commented that “at some point, everything becomes irrelevant.” She referred to some of Madonna’s past controversies, such as her performance of “Like a Virgin” in 2003 where Madonna kissed Britney Spears and set people talking for weeks.
“That just becomes a standard, where it's just like, ‘Oh, that's her thing,’” the Mail quoted Cyrus as saying recently. “So, I feel like now that I did the VMAs, that just kind of became a standard for me. And then any time I do anything else, they're like, ‘Miley kept it tame tonight.’”
News that Madonna and Cyrus would perform together hyped up their online fans.
