A respected Miami charter school for grades K-8 is playing host at night to R-rated parties for adults, The Miami Herald reported Friday.

Fliers advertise late-night, booze-soaked bashes at the building on Quail Roost Road that houses the Balere Language Academy.

“A flier for an upcoming party features a voluptuous, scantily clad woman posing with champagne bottles. Another shows a woman in a string bikini bending over suggestively and a man with flashy jewelry sitting on a stack of currency in front of a gold sports car,” the Herald said.

Asked whether the building was hosting parties, founder and principal Rocka Malik told the newspaper, “Not that I’m aware of.” An attorney for the school said it is investigating.

The school district has complained to Balerr about the sexy soirees.

“All advertisements include the promotion of alcoholic beverages in addition to inappropriate images for school-age children,” Deputy Superintendent Freddie Woodson wrote in a letter to Balere.
There’s not much the district can do, since charter schools, although funded by taxpayer dollars, are run by private or nonprofit boards.

Parents first raised the alarm after finding empty beer bottles at the school. They also complained about a lingering smell of cigarette smoke. Then they began to spot the fliers.

The Herald said calls to the party promoter, Outlaw Skinny Productions, were not returned.
