Former "Family Ties" star Meredith Baxter will be marrying her longtime girlfriend Nancy Locke. It's Baxter's fourth marriage, the first with a woman.

The actress, who has been married to three different men, picked up her marriage license on Friday in Beverly Hills, Calif., TMZ reported.

The details surrounding the future nuptials have yet to be released, however invitations have apparently already been sent out, sources close to Baxter told the celebrity news website.

Baxter first announced she was gay in December 2009.

In an interview with NBC News' Matt Lauer on the Today Show Baxter said, "I am a lesbian and it was a later-in-life recognition."

"Some people would say, well, you’re living a lie and, you know, the truth is — not at all. This has only been for the past seven years," the 62-year-old Baxter added. "I’ve always lived a very private life. . . To come out and disclose stuff is very antithetical to who I am."

Baxter's admission came after the National Enquirer had one month earlier published photos of the actress with a "female friend" aboard a Caribbean cruise sponsored by the lesbian travel company Sweet.

A mother of five, Baxter's prior husbands included actor and costume designer Robert Lewis Bush, actor and director David Birney, and actor and novelist Michael Blodgett, whom she divorced in 2000.

In recent years, a growing number of Hollywood actors have come out of the closet, embracing their sexuality in the public forum.

Raven-Symone, who played a precocious 3-year-old in the 1980s’ "The Cosby Show" series and starred in her own Disney Channel series 10 years ago, came out as a lesbian on Twitter in August.

Raven herself was not getting married but rather celebrating the fact that more states had legalized gay marriage earlier this year.

In April, Magic Johnson's son Earvin "E.J." Johnson III, publicly announced that he was gay after a video surfaced of him walking the Sunset Strip wearing a giant fur coat, carrying a handbag, and walking hand-in-hand with his boyfriend.

And in January, veteran actress Jodie Foster came out during a speech at this year's Golden Globe Awards ceremony, in which she also alluded to retiring from acting.
