Mega Millions' drawing Tuesday night had no jackpot winner, resulting in the grand prize growing to $172 million. The Tuesday numbers were 23, 29, 31, 37, and 70 with a Mega Millions number of 14. The next Mega Millions drawing will be held Friday night.
Mega Millions has seen its jackpots grow significantly since last fall, after the lottery increased its number pool from one through 56 to one through 75 on Oct. 19. As a result, the odds of winning a Mega Millions jackpot with a single ticket increased from 1 in 176 million to 1 in 259 million.

While a $172 million Mega Millions win would change anyone's life, guessing the correct six numbers in Wednesday's Powerball lottery drawing would change a person's life even more significantly, considering the Powerball jackpot is now $400 million
The last Mega Millions jackpot win occurred on Jan. 3, when Bettina "Tina" Still and her son Jonathan of Nashville, TN, won a cool $61 million, before taxes were taken out.
"I am truly grateful for this blessing," Still said in a press release issued by Mega Millions
. "I have played the Lottery since it first arrived in Tennessee and have always believed that I could win."
"As I keep telling my friends: You can’t win if you don’t play. Knowing you can win is one of the biggest thrills in the world. It’s part of the fun of playing. . . This will truly mean a lot to us," the 69-year-old retiree added.
The largest Mega Millions win over the past 12 months however was that of Steve Tran, a San Jose, Calif., resident who on Dec. 17 won a $324 million jackpot.

After realizing he had won the jackpot, Tran told reporters that he phoned his boss and left a message that went something like, "I’m really sorry boss. I hit the jackpot. I don’t think I’m going to come in today, tomorrow, or ever," according to a Mega Millions press release
As large as the Mega Million's jackpots have been in the past year, Powerball had the highest overall jackpot in the past 12 months, with a $636-million prize being split between two winning tickets in December
