A med school student auctioning off her virginity to the highest bidder has for the first time this week released a photo of herself along with her alias, Elizabeth Raine.

To date, the 27-year-old blonde has received an unconfirmed high bid of $550,000, while the highest bid she has been able to confirm is a $300,000 offer from a Serbian national named "Damir." The virginity auction began on March 31 and will end on May 7.

As to why she decided to come forward, Raine told The Huffington Post, "I actually didn't like the anonymity. People mistake it for shame. Plus, there has been some speculation that I'd be outed and I wanted to do it on my own terms."

According to Raine, she had planning to auction off her virginity for more than a year, during which time she says she has had a "personal transformation."

During the Huffington Post interview, Raine dismissed any characterizations that she was emotionally damaged — a common stereotype for young women who turn to the sex industry to make money.

Though she did lose her mother at the age of 10, Raine said, "I am not emotionally damaged, broken, or shut off as a result of it.

"To the contrary, while it was truly devastating and the only difficult experience I have ever been through, my character and outlook on life are much better for it," Raine added. "I have become more compassionate, strong, motivated, and free in spirit. I have learned not to take life too seriously, but also not to take it for granted."

Born in the Southwest, Raine spent a significant part of her youth in Saudi Arabia, being the daughter of an oil industry employee, The Huffington Post noted.

As for who she would like to lose her virginity to, Raine say she prefers tall, older men but considering it’s a business transaction would not be picky. The 27-year-old med school student, however, told the Huffington Post that she would not entertain a female bidder even if a woman offered the highest bid, saying, "I'm straight. That would be out of my comfort zone."
