NASCAR driver Max Papis said he was shocked when a fellow driver's enraged girlfriend came up to him after Sunday's Camping World Truck Series in Canada and slapped him so hard in the face that it dislocated his jaw.
It all started during the last lap of the race when Papis and driver Mike Skeen were vying for second place. According to Papis, Skeen made an aggressive, unsportsmanlike move which caused both drivers to wreck their trucks. The two exchanged hand gestures as a member of Skeen's crew reportedly went after Papis as he was still strapped into his truck and attempted to pull him out.
According to ESPN.com, Papis later approached Skeen at his hauler
to talk about what happened and was confronted by the driver's girlfriend, Kelly Heaphy. Skeen claims that the Italian driver tried to pull Heaphy down the stairs of the trailer; Papis said he simply "moved her aside."

After that altercation, Papis was giving an interview to a TV station and detailing how Skeen reportedly caused him to wreck.
"This crazy lady comes shouting at me, and I had no idea, didn't even understand her, she just started shouting," Papis told ESPN.com. "And all the sudden, she took a full hand — and she slapped me so hard. I'm not kidding. My jaw got dislocated and my left ear is still ringing, big time.
"What do you do? You don't hit a lady. I was in disbelief. Complete disbelief. If she would've closed her hand it would have been a bad punch, because she hit me so freaking hard. I went to [Skeen] and said, 'I guess we know who's the man in the family here, because the guy didn't even have the [guts] to talk.'"
Papis reported the incident to NASCAR and asked the organization to investigate.
"It needs to stay between the drivers," Papis said. "I think NASCAR should do something about it. I don't even like that [Skeen's] team member pulled me out of the truck, much less this lady slapping me. Drivers can have arguments with each other — but it shouldn't affect what other people do."
Skeen also spoke out about his girlfriend slapping Papis.
"It’s not something that I would have encouraged," he told FoxSports.com.
"But it happened. I figure her temper got the best of her. He was saying some pretty nasty stuff on TV, and she felt it was unjustified."
