Initially joking she was pregnant, the 54-year-old Osmond, who has two biological children and five adopted children, first shared the news in June during an appearance on CBS's daytime talk show "The Talk." In the interview, Osmond discussed how her son Steven James Craig surprised her during a visit for his 30th birthday that his wife is pregnant.

"I am so excited I'm going to be a grandma," the singer said. "I just can't wait. We went in for my son—for his birthday—he turned 30, which is amazing 'cause I'm 29. He blew out the candles and then blew me away and said, 'You're gonna be a grandma!' It was really fun."

Craig is Osmond's oldest child from her first marriage to former Brigham Young University basketball player Stephen Lyle Craig. Osmond and Stephen Craig divorced in 1985 but remarried in 2011, according to People.com.

The positive news comes three years after Osmond mourned the death of another son, 18-year-old Michael Blosil, who in February of 2010 committed suicide by jumping from a high-rise apartment building in Los Angeles.

Osmond is the lone daughter of nine siblings from the show business Osmond family. Osmond performed as a country music artist in the 1970s and 1980s and from 1976 to 1979, co-hosted the variety television show "Donny & Marie."

More recently, in 2007 Osmond appeared in the fifth season of "Dancing with the Stars" where she finished third. She is also a spokeswoman for the weight loss product NutriSystem, and sells a line of Marie Osmond Fine Porcelain Collector Dolls in addition to being involved with several charities that help children in need.
