Actress Marg Helgenberger will return to top-ranked “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” as the show airs its 300th episode to bring back her beloved character, Catherine Willows.

Helgenberger left the show after playing Willows for 12 seasons, with her last episode airing in January 2012. In her return show, the CSI team will take on a case involving a casino owner who was suspected in another case in 2000, CBS said.

The spunky redhead was part of the popular crime show’s original cast. Helgenberger’s episode is scheduled to air Oct. 23.

Helgenberger Tweeted that she’s happy to be returning:

The actress will be returning to TV in another drama, "Intelligence," also on CBS, that stars Josh Holloway as a former Delta Forces soldier who is technologically modified. See the trailer below for the new show, which premieres Feb. 24, 2014.

Helgenberger, who’s on Twitter as @MargHelgen, clearly has strong ties to her CSI show. When the show was renewed for its 14th season, she posted:
