A new Tumblr page is attracting quite the following online with its tongue-in-cheek compilation of newspaper portraits that feature local people in the clichéd arms-crossed pose.

Aptly named "Local People With Their Arms Crossed," the photo blog features a running tab of local newspaper pages and pokes fun at the tried and true go-to pose. "The pose that says, 'Hey, look at me. I'm featured on the front of my local newspaper,'" the page description reads.

"How can readers take these bros, their towns, and their stories seriously if they don't see some crossed arms?" Neha Prakash posited on Mashable. "Clearly, arms hanging limply at one's side doesn't carry the same gravitas. Clearly, local news photographers need to tap their creativity a bit more too."

The page was created by Jeremy Barr, 25, who just graduated with a master's in journalism from the University of Maryland. He noticed the arms-crossed trend when scrolling through newspapers' front pages with Newseum's "Today's Front Pages" feature.

"I was looking through front pages with another idea in mind and noticed this pose in a few papers around the country," Barr told Poynter. "It's such a silly pose, and it connotes so much, so I thought it might be fun to see if I could compile these poses. Fortunately there's been a steady stream of them since I started this at the beginning of the month. I thought it was funny, and I hoped people would agree."
