The Laraki Epitome, the impressive supercar, costs $2 million, but car designer Abdesslam Laraki is hoping the vehicle’s 1,750 horsepower, 7-liter, twin-turbo charged V-8 engine will impress buyers enough to splurge.

The Epitome was unveiled at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance this past weekend. Abdeslam Laraki is better known for his megayachts and other vehicles, but the supercar was the talk of the event.

Seyth Miersma, of Autoblog.com, wrote the vehicle's Corvette-style body, made entirely of carbon fiber, is only the start of what sets the vehicle apart from competitors.

"The 7.0-liter Chevy V8 has been given all new internals and hooked up to a pair of identical turbochargers," Miersma wrote. "With that rig, the company spokesperson tells us the Epitome is good for 1,200 horsepower on pump gas. But wait, there's more. The Laraki actually has two gas tanks with one chamber meant for Regular (gasoline) and another intending to hold 110 octane. At the touch of a button, the Epitome will change its ECU map, allowing it to burn gas from both tanks, and raising the output to a nearly unbelievable 1,750 hp."

Rafael Bernal of UPI.com described the regular gasoline to octane mix as turning "your purebred racehorse" into a "full on Pegasus."

Jeff Perez of Yahoo! Auto's Bold Ride blog wrote the Epitome
is designed to exceed speeds more than 200 mph. While only nine Epitomes have been built, Laraki has hinted at building more in the near future.

"The reaction is more than encouraging no one is expecting it," Laraki said, according to USA Today.

Laraki founded Laraki Automobiles, which operated in Morocco from 1999 to 2008 and created the Laraki Fulgura and Laraki Borak.

Grand presentations are nothing new for Laraki, who last year introduced his Prelude superyacht in Los Angeles, a nine-deck, 163-meter vessel produced by Laraki Yacht Design. The yacht's amenities rival many cruise ships, with two pools, a water slide and a sushi bar for 20 people.
