Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Kate Upton told Vogue U.K. in its latest edition that her biggest career challenge with the fashion establishment has been her own agents.
Upton made the comments in the latest edition of June edition of Vogue U.K.
, which put her on its cover.
"It's weird that in the press they'll be like, your biggest fight was with the industry and the designers, and I'm like, no, my biggest fight was with my agents, trying to get them to sign me into the castings," Upton told the magazine. "I thought, how I'm going to come out of this will be an example for girls."

Upton, who appears on the cover at a Caribbean beach, said she is a fan of Marilyn Monroe but feels she has more freedom to be "genuine" today than she had then.
"I always thought Marilyn was so beautiful and iconic, it was amazing to even be mentioned in the same sentence as her," said Upton. "But I feel like nowadays it's easy to be genuine and show your personality, whereas I don't think Marilyn had that opportunity. And clearly she had a dark side, and I don't have that."
It's the second time Upton has appeared on the Vogue U.K. cover after first appearing as the magazine's face for its January 2013 edition, according to the Huffington Post
"After scoring the cover of the 2012 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue, the curvy blonde bombshell started angling for more high fashion gigs," the Huffington Post's Ellie Krupnick wrote in 2012. "Surprisingly, the fashion world welcomed her with open arms: first smaller magazines, then a small front-of-the-book story in Vogue, then a Vogue Italia, then a full editorial spread in Vogue."
Vogue U.K. editor-in-chief Alexandra Shulman told the Huffington Post then that the magazine was looking for a youthful look in showcasing Upton the first time.
"When I decided to shoot Kate for our first cover of 2013 it was to kick off the year with a young woman who is not a stereotypical fashion model – although, let's face it, she's hardly a heffalump."
