Border agents seized a small amount of marijuana from a Justin Bieber tour bus at the Canadian border while the vehicle was en route to a Bieber concert in Detroit, the Detroit Free Press reported Tuesday.

The teen singer was not on the bus at the time.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesman Kenneth Hammond told the Free Press that the bus was being driven into the U.S. from Canada via the Ambassador Bridge. A police dog alerted agents to the presence of drugs while the vehicle was undergoing a secondary inspection. Customs officers then found and seized the pot, along with drug paraphernalia, Hammond said.

The driver was issued what the Free Press called a “civil penalty,” and the bus and its passengers were released without further incident.

Social networking sites were bombarded with comments and links to stories about the incident.

“Bus-ted,” @Effiongeton posted on Twitter.

“Pot was found on Justin Bieber’s tour bus in Detroit. Great, now Detroit is going to get a bad reputation,” tweeted @ComedyCentral.

High Times noted this was the second time in recent months that marijuana was found on a Bieber tour bus. Authorities in Stockholm, Sweden, confiscated the drug from a Bieber bus, but police didn’t arrest or cite anyone after they were unable to determine whose marijuana it was.

Bieber, 19, is from Canada. He was “discovered” by talent agent Scooter Braun, who came across the singer’s videos on YouTube and would later become his manager. His 2009 album, "My World," was the first to notch seven songs from a debut album on Billboard’s Hot 100 list.

Bieber has been the target of paparazzi since, and earlier this year, a 27-year-old woman claimed he had sex with her when he was 15 and fathered her 2-year-old daughter. A Bieber source told HollywoodLife.com that the claim is not valid.

In 2010, a San Diego woman made a similar allegation, but it turned out to be bogus.
