Josh Duggar, of TLC's reality TV show "19 Kids and Counting," will be moving to Washington, D.C., with his wife and children to lend his support to the conservative Christian lobbying organization the Family Research Council.

The 25-year-old Duggar, who is the oldest of 19 children on the show and has three children of his own – the youngest of whom is just two weeks old, will be working as the executive director of FRC Action, the legislative action arm of the FRC, the Washington Post reported.

"It will be a culture shock coming from northwest Arkansas, but he’s a sharp kid," FRC President Tony Perkins told The Post Tuesday. "He’s going to fit in well, I think."

Perkins has a history with the Duggar family, having first met the family patriarch Jim Bob Duggar in 2002 when he unsuccessfully ran for Louisiana's Senate seat. In the same year, Jim Bob, who served two terms as an Arkansas state representative, made a failed bid for Arkansas Senate seat.

The two have reportedly kept in touch ever since.

"Josh and his wife have been an inspiration to millions of Americans who regularly tune in to the Duggar family's show, and we have long appreciated their commitment to the pro-family movement," Perkins said in a statement on the group's website. "Under Josh, we look forward to taking our grassroots outreach to the next level and engaging more young people to care about the values so vital to our success as a nation."

During the 2012 Republican primary, Jim Bob brought 12 of his 19 kids out to campaign for former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum before he eventually lost out to Mitt Romney for the nomination.

During a campaign event in Florida, Josh Duggar told Politico, "There’s only one candidate in this race who embraces our values and that man is Rick Santorum."

In contrast to the kind words expressed by Perkins announcing Josh Duggar's appointment, the gay advocacy watchdog group GLADD tweeted out the announcement with a different slant.

Because of their anti-gay stance, FRC has been labeled a "hate group" by the Southern Policy Law Center, a civil rights law firm based out of Montgomery, Ala., which many conservatives argue leans left.
