A British woman who said she learned to bake from watching YouTube videos has created a "just shy of life-size" Johnny Depp cake, modeled after the actor's Jack Sparrow character in "Pirates of the Caribbean."
Lara Clarke, an amateur cake maker from West Midlands, England, used crisped rice, marshmallows, fondant icing, and edible paint to create a 5-foot-5-inch cake version of pirate Jack Sparrow for a competition over the weekend.

"One of my friends was on the phone and said I should enter Cake International," Clarke told the BBC. "I was watching 'Pirates of the Caribbean'... I thought [Depp]
would make the perfect cake… The judges are probably more used to seeing three-tier wedding cakes than giant Jack Sparrows."
Clarke said the Johnny Depp cake took more than 90 hours of work.
"When my father-in-law first saw him, he leapt about 10-feet in the air thinking we had burglars," she told the BBC. "He's just shy of life-size because I was worried we wouldn't be able to get him out of the door."
And, in the end, all that work paid off — Clarke took home first place for her Johnny Depp cake.
"I am still floating on cloud 9 at the moment, hoping that I don't wake up tomorrow and it all to have been one massive dream!" she posted on Facebook Sunday.
