At least when Vice President Joe Biden says he will pay you back, you know where to find him.

Biden was a little short when he had to pay for a lunch tab Thursday, so he borrowed $10, refusing a freebie from the restaurant owner, "Today" reported.

Biden had purchased a group lunch at Capriotti’s, a Delaware-based sandwich shop chain. The total of $56.25, was a bit more then he had on him. So he turned to an aide for a loan, USA Today reported.

“Fran, you got ten bucks?

As the crowd chuckled, an employee of the recently opened eatery offered to comp Biden one of his subs.

Biden, buying the food for his weekly lunch with President Obama, said no, he'd pay the full fare, USA Today reported.

"I'm not taking it," Biden said. "You know what, I've been going to Capriotti's on Union Street (in Wilmington) for the last 40 years. I have paid every time I've gone.

"In Delaware, you pay. It's simple."

Commenters on the USA Today article had a mixed reaction.

“Joe needs to ask the boss for a bigger allowance,” wrote one poster.

Wrote another: “Joe is a true Democrat always needing someone else’s money to live on.”

Some posters thought the issue was overblown.

“So what if he was $10 short of cash in his wallet!! Why is this even making the news?? :-|
