The author told Entertainment Weekly
that she was "terrified" about the filming of the movie.
"I've been terrified from the moment I published the book," said the British author. "My mother was terrified of everything, and so am I. It's a terrible way to grow up. Dornan joined the cast to play the lead Christian Grey after "Sons of Anarchy" star Charlie Hunnam dropped out of the project, reported MTV.com
The actor plays Sheriff Graham Humbert on ABC's television series "Once Upon a Time" and appeared in Sofia Coppola's "Marie Antoinette" in 2006. Dornan also worked for Calvin Klein, Armani and Christian Dior as a model.
The Daily News said the film is expected to hit movie theaters on Aug. 1, 2014. Hunnam's departure just before filming put the release date in limbo until Dornan was signed.
"Fifty Shades of Grey" and its two follow-up books sold 29 million copies in trade paper back in 2012 with another 15 million digital copies, according to the Tampa Bay Times
