The magazine features exclusive interviews with Dornan, 31, who plays billionaire Christian Grey, and Johnson, 24, who stars as virginal student Anastasia Steele. The story is about a tormented billionaire’s erotic tastes and his seduction of an unworldly literature student.

A publishing sensation with its graphic sex scenes, “Fifty Shades of Grey” sold 90 million copies worldwide.

The big-screen adaptation was originally scheduled to open in August 2014, but casting problems delayed it. The film is now scheduled to open Valentine’s Day 2015, The Associated Press reported.

Dornan, a former Calvin Klein underwear model, told Entertainment Weekly he had no qualms about the sex scenes.

"I'm a fairly worldly guy," he told EW. "I grew up in a very liberal place. I'm not saying we had a playroom, but I'm not shocked by [the sex in the book]. It's essential to tell the story. I can't believe films that don't invoke the sexual side of it. So it works for me."

Johnson, the daughter of actors Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith, said she is working out to prepare for the part. "Obviously, I want to look good naked," she told EW. "I totally understand now why people exercise, because it kind of f—ing feels awesome." She also darkened her blond locks for the role.

Dornan replaced "Sons of Anarchy" star Charlie Hunnam, who dropped out of the project shortly after being cast.

The movie is scheduled to begin filming in December.

Valentine’s Day may seem appropriate for the release of the erotic tale, but the AP reports “February is often a dumping ground for Hollywood's less prestigious releases.”

Some fans took to Twitter to express their reaction to the cover.
