Jackie Lynn Taylor, the Little Rascal actress of the classic TV series "Our Gang," died Monday in Citrus Heights, California. She was 88.

Taylor, who debuted at the age of 9 as the Little Rascal character Jane — the girlfriend of gang leader Wally Albright — went on to become one of the first TV news hosts in Southern California and also appeared in such Laurel & Hardy films as "Babes in Toyland" and "The Devil's Brother."

It was her role in the iconic "Our Gang" series, however, for which Taylor is most remembered.

"We didn’t have scripts," Taylor told The Sacramento Bee in 2000 recalling her time as a Little Rascal. "We played together. We were kids who worked together, who played together and who went to school together. We weren’t great actors, but we got along."

"I think that being a member of the Rascals has kept me young," Taylor added.

Taylor was replaced in the "Our Gang" series by Darla Hood when the young actress grew too tall for the role.

In the 1970s, Taylor co-hosted "The Little Rascals Family Theatre" with her husband Jack Fries. The couple aired "Our Gang" skits on the show.

Taylor also wrote a book about her experience on the beloved TV show called "The turned-on Hollywood 7; Jackie remembers Our Gang," which was published in 1970.

Taylor is survived by her former TV journalist and producer husband Jack Fries. Prior to her marriage to Fries, Taylor was married to actor Ben Bard.
