Actress Jennifer Lawrence had a run-in with Jack Nicholson backstage after her big Oscar win Sunday night when the veteran actor interrupted her interview to heap praise on the newly crowned best actress.

Lawrence, 22, who had just won the golden statue for her "Silver Linings Playbook" performance, was filming a pre-taped interview with George Stephanopoulos that would air on Monday's "Good Morning America."

"I feel like I can't even remember," Lawrence said, describing her big win. "It's kind of an insane moment and it was just really exciting. It was really just shocking. It was the first time I've ever felt, like, actual shock."

Out of nowhere, Nicholson popped in to congratulate the young actress, who rose to fame as the star of "The Hunger Games" movie last year. The two exchanged flirty banter in front of the cameras.

"You did such a beautiful job," Nicholson, 75, told Lawrence. "I didn’t mean to cross into your interview but I had to congratulate you."

"You're being really rude," Lawrence joked after thanking him.

Nicholson then made a comment about how Lawrence reminded him of an old flame.

"Oh really? Do I look like a new girlfriend?" Lawrence quipped.

"I thought about it," Nicholson shot back before exiting.

"Oh my God!" Lawrence shouted. "Is he still there?"

"I'll be waiting," Nicholson said as he popped his head back into the frame.

The encounter (video below) marked the first meeting between the two actors.

"This is my life now. 'Hey Jack, hey Jennifer, how are you?'" she said, jokingly.

The interview wasn’t the only embarrassing situation Lawrence found herself in on Oscar night.

Earlier, as she was walking on stage to accept her award, she tripped up the stairs on her Dior Haute Couture dress.

"You are standing up because you’re feeling bad that I fell, and that’s embarrassing," Lawrence said when she reached the podium, acknowledging the standing ovation from her peers.

Lawrence won Best Actress over Emmanuelle Riva ("Amour"), Quvenzhané Wallis ("Beasts of the Southern Wild"), Jessica Chastain ("Zero Dark Thirty"), and Naomi Watts ("The Impossible").
