A Florida high school student who claimed he was kicked out of  school after appearing in porn videos will be allowed back to school so he can graduate.

Robert Marucci, 18, a student at Cocoa High School, told WKMG-TV that school officials kicked him out for performing in porn videos to help his family pay bills. Marucci's mother, Melyssa Lieb, said school administrators targeted her son because of his work in porn.

"She (principal Stephanie Soliven) flat out told me that my son was expelled not just suspended, he was expelled due to his explicit, adult, lifestyle career," Lieb told WKMG-TV.

School officials told WKMG-TV that they refute Marucci and Lieb's charge, saying that some students complained that Marucci threatened them after they taunted him after finding his porn videos online.

Marucci pointed to a referral slip giving to him by school administrators stating that he had threatened to bring weapons to school, something he denied.

"It's easy to become emotional about a situation when it looks like a student is being targeted for his lifestyle choices, that is not the case here," Michelle Irwin, a spokesperson for the district. told Florida Today. "We will continue to work with the student and his family to make sure he graduates and moves on with his education."

Irwin told Florida Today that Marucci was not expelled but ordered to stay home while the school investigated what they saw were "credible allegations" received by school staff. She said Marucci had been cleared after the investigation and is welcomed back at the school.

"We would never suspend a student for his job or job-related activities," Irwin told Florida Today.

News of Marucci being barred from campus sparked the creation of a Facebook site "Support Robert Marucci," which listed more than 700 members as of Wednesday.

WKMG-TV reported that about a dozen students staged a walkout at Cocoa High School Friday. Marucci told the television station that the walkout was organized by his friends and he was not involved with it.
