Gretchen Rossi and Alexis Bellino, two stars of the Bravo reality show "Real Housewives of Orange County," have been fired from the show, according to a Hollywood source.

"Real Housewives of Orange County," part of the Bravo's "Real Housewives" franchise, is entering its ninth season. E! News reported that Rossi, who joined in season 4, and Bellino, who joined for season 5, will not be a part of it.

"Neither will be returning for season nine. The feeling is both of their journeys on the show have come to an end," a source told E! "Bravo is constantly looking at the casting and dynamics and it felt like time for a change."

Star magazine reported that Bravo producers complained that Rossi's storyline was not strong enough to interest viewers for another season. The magazine claims that Rossi cooked up an engagement to Slade Smiley, who was once in engaged to former cast member Jo De La Rosa, to make her story more compelling.

Bellino was not slated to appear in season 8 but was asked to return when a new castmember backed out just before the filming of season 9 started.

Bellino told on Sept. 13 that her return for season 9 was uncertain.

"Everything is still in the air. . . I don't even want to think about it. Right now I'm very undecided and I don't want to think about what we're doing," she said.

Star magazine reported that other cast members — Tamra Barney, Vicki Gunvalson, Heather Dubrow and Lydia McLaughlin — are all slated to return, with production starting this month. There still might be some additions.

"Producers are currently meeting with new women," E! News reported an insider told them.

"The Real Housewives of Orange County" reached season-high Nielsen ratings, with 2.4 million viewers and 1.5 million in the coveted 18-49 age group during its finale in early August.

Bravo TV currently airs seven shows in the "Real Housewives" franchise, spanning from Atlanta, Beverly Hills, Miami, New Jersey, New York, Orange County and Washington D.C. This is not counting spinoff shows, such as "Vanderpump Rules," "Bethenny Ever After," and "Bethenny Getting Married?"
