Ryan Reynolds played Green Lantern in the 2011 film, which was largely panned by critics and fans alike.

Ben Affleck as Batman and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman have already been announced to star alongside Henry Cavill as Superman in the "Man of Steel" sequel, directed by Zack Snyder.
Earlier reports that "Breaking Bad" star Bryan Cranston signed on to play Luthor were refuted, and now speculation has turned to Joaquin Phoenix to play Superman's arch nemesis. But it hasn't even been confirmed that Luthor will appear in the next film.

Washington has won two Oscars in his career, for Best Actor in 2001's "Training Day," and Best Supporting Actor for 1989's "Glory." He has also starred in "Philadelphia," "Remember the Titans," and "Flight."
