Former Vice President Al Gore boycotted the Democratic National Convention in a rift with President Barack Obama over the president’s failure to push harder for laws that would force Americans to use fewer fossil fuels, according to news reports.

Gore was covering the convention, in charlotte, N.C., from New York for his struggling Current TV channel, The Daily reports.

“Gore was not treated respectfully by the Obama team,” a Democratic fundraiser told The Daily. “He’s snubbing them, because they snubbed him.”

While former President Bill Clinton has an active role in Obama’s re-election effort — including Wednesday’s prime-time slot for his re-nominating speech — Gore was not present at all week.

“He’s been missing in action,” the fundraiser told The Daily. “It’s not just the convention. Gore hasn’t made any speeches for for Obama, or campaign appearances, or fundraising solicitations –— nothing.”
