He died in Santa Monica from complications from pneumonia, Edwards' agent, Fred Westbrook, told The Associated Press.

Westbrook recalled that Edwards followed his own path as a game show host, dumping conservative ideas and wearing his hair long and dressing in jeans rather than a suit.

"Geoff was one of the cleverest, funniest radio and television personalities I've worked with," Wink Martindale, also a game show host, told the AP.

Fans mourned Edwardss death online and talked about his on-air personality that made him popular.

Retrogaming Roundup called Edwards one of their favorite interviews.

Later in his career, Edwards began travel writing and published a book, “Going All the Way.”
