Geoff Edwards Dies: Game Show Host Succumbs to Pneumonia at 83

A popular game show host from the '70s and '80s, Geoff Edwards died Wednesday at age 83.

Edwards hosted “Jackpot!” and “Treasure Hunt,” and also worked as a DJ and an actor, appearing on shows like “Diff’rent Strokes” and “Petticoat Junction.”

He died in Santa Monica from complications from pneumonia, Edwards' agent, Fred Westbrook, told The Associated Press.

Westbrook recalled that Edwards followed his own path as a game show host, dumping conservative ideas and wearing his hair long and dressing in jeans rather than a suit.



"Geoff was one of the cleverest, funniest radio and television personalities I've worked with," Wink Martindale, also a game show host, told the AP.

Fans mourned Edwardss death online and talked about his on-air personality that made him popular.



Retrogaming Roundup called Edwards one of their favorite interviews. 

Later in his career, Edwards began travel writing and published a book, “Going All the Way.”
