Canadian actress Genevieve Sabourin was convicted Thursday of stalking Alec Baldwin for the past two years. She was sentenced to six months in jail for stalking and harassment, which is tagged onto a one-month sentence she’s already serving because of courtroom outbursts.
Sabourin continued to expound her innocence to a Manhattan Criminal Court Judge, The Associated Press reported,
contending that she and Baldwin had a romantic date two years before, slept together, and indicated the two would have a future together.

Baldwin, 55, said during the trial that the two did date, although he denied that they went to bed together. He said he told her to stop harassing him; Sabourin first sent emails and called after their date, but that escalated to showing up at his homes.
“She's not entitled to an explanation for a dream that he sold her?” Sabourin’s lawyer, Todd Spodek, said in a closing argument, the AP reported. “Mr. Baldwin doesn't have carte blanche to use the criminal justice system to sort out his relationships.”
“You had no right to continue communications or pursue contact you knew to be unwanted and unwelcome,” Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Robert Mandelbaum’s said during the ruling, the New York Daily News reported
Baldwin did not attend the court hearing, the Daily News said, but instead was at his apartment building “snarling” at photographers trying to get a picture of him with his wife, Hilaria, and their baby, Carmen.
The Daily News covered Sabourin’s trial, reporting on dramatic events, including Baldwin crying and Baldwin’s friend, “Scarface” producer Martin Bregman, saying he believed Baldwin was lying about not having sex with Sabourin. Bregman was the person who connected Baldwin with Sabourin for their date.
“He’s lying,” Bregman told the Daily News during the trial.
“He was screwing two women. One of them is his present wife and the other one, I presume, he was doing the girl in question.”
