June 14 marks Flag Day, the commemoration of the adoption of the flag of the United States in 1777, and this year Americans are taking to Twitter to celebrate.

"Resolved that the flag of the 13 United States be 13 stripes alternate red and white: that the union be 13 stars, white in a blue field, representing a new constellation," read a motion passed by the Continental Congress in 1777.
