Diesel’s Facebook announcement gathered more than 1.1 million likes. Thousands of comments were made on the post, with many people saying the “Fast & Furious” franchise will never be the same without Walker.
The 2015 date is a little less than a year later than the film was originally supposed to be released. The previously set date of April 2014 was pushed back after Walker and his friend died in a car wreck Nov. 30.
Diesel, who called Walker a brother, has openly grieved his friend’s death. The “Fast & Furious” franchise has been immensely popular and many wondered what would happen to the movie that was being filmed when Walker died.
Universal Studios confirmed Diesel’s announcement.
Some fans were concerned Walker would not be in the movie, if it was released, but Universal said the young actor will definitely be featured, E! Online said
"Continuing the global exploits in the franchise built on speed, Vin Diesel and Paul Walker lead the returning cast of FAST & FURIOUS 7, which will be released by Universal Pictures on April 10, 2015," the studio said in a statement, according to E!. "James Wan directs this chapter of the hugely successful series, and Neal H. Moritz and Vin Diesel return as producers."
E! said about 60 percent of the movie was shot before Walker died.
