A 25-year-old abortion counselor in New Jersey posted a video of herself getting her own abortion on YouTube, saying she wanted to share her "positive abortion story."

Emily Letts wrote in a column for Cosmopolitan saying she wanted to share the video to help other women overcome the fear and guilt associated with having an abortion.

Letts, who was a professional actress before becoming an abortion counselor, wrote that she hadn’t been using birth control when she found out she was pregnant in November.

“Once I caught my breath, I knew immediately I was going to have an abortion. I knew I wasn’t ready to take care of a child. The guy wasn’t involved in my decision,” she wrote.

Only two or three weeks into her pregnancy, Letts chose a surgical abortion with local anesthesia. The video shows her from the waist up during the procedure.

“A first trimester abortion takes three to five minutes. It is safer than giving birth," she claims. "I remember breathing and humming through it like I was giving birth. I know that sounds weird, but to me, this was as birth-like as it could be."

While liberal sites lauded her for her actions, many around the Internet are standing up for the unborn child and questioning Letts' decision to so publicly share her story.

"She is actually attempting to assign nobility and love to killing an unborn infant. It’s sickening and stunning," one commenter wrote on an article at The Blaze.

"As she goes further into her life I would bet she won’t be thinking this was such a positive experience then. You’ve got to live with this murderous action and I’m sure it’s going to play heavy on her conscious for years and years to come. You may have aborted the person who could have cured cancer, world hunger, or someone who was destined for greatness, but now you’ll never know," wrote another.

Twitter was abuzz with talk about the video as well.
