Vance McAllister, the Louisiana congressman whose passionate kiss with a staffer was revealed on video this week, said he's been in contact with the "Duck Dynasty" star who endorsed his campaign last fall.
"Willie [Robertson] told me that he was a friend and that I needed to work things out privately," McAllister, 40, told The Monroe News-Star earlier this week.

McAllister won Louisiana's 5th congressional district in a surprise upset last November with a nod from the "Duck Dynasty" crew and a conservative campaign that highlighted his Christian values and 16-year-marriage.
But now the Republican representative is embroiled in a cheating scandal after a local newspaper uncovered a surveillance video that showed him passionately kissing Melissa Anne Hixon Peacock
, a 33-year-old married part-time staffer, at his district office in December.
McAllister, who's married with five children, told The News-Star that he told his wife, Kelly, about his infidelity in late January or early February "before the video came out."
He also told the newspaper he still plans to run for re-election next year "unless there is an outcry for me not to serve."
Heath Peacock, the man who's married to McAllister's kissing buddy, appeared on CNN earlier this week
and said the whole ordeal has ruined his marriage.
"I’m just freaking devastated by the whole deal, man," he said. "I loved my wife so much. I cannot believe this. I cannot freaking believe it. I feel like I’m going to wake up here in a minute and this is all going to be a bad nightmare . . . We're headed for divorce."
