'Duck Dynasty' Scarecrow Stolen, Burned; Georgia Teen Arrested

A Georgia teen was arrested Friday after he allegedly stole a "Duck Dynasty"-themed scarecrow from a local elementary school and burned it.

Residents in Ball Ground, Ga., were distraught last week when the stuffed figure — modeled after the wacky yet lovable Uncle Si Robertson from A&E's hit show "Duck Dynasty" — went missing from out front of a local elementary school, and police even offered a $1,000 reward for its return.

The Uncle Si dummy was created by a group of Ball Ground Elementary School fourth-grade students and parents as an entry for the small town's scarecrow contest.

A concerned neighbor contacted police last week and reported seeing the scarecrow on a front porch outside of Ball Ground, but when officers went to investigate, they found nothing but charred remains.

"Someone called in a tip and said they'd seen it on a porch outside the city," Police Chief Byron Reeves told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution of the "Duck Dynasty" scarecrow. "The suspect] admitted that he did take it on his way home one night, and he burned it because he got afraid of the media attention and what it got on social media."

The 16-year-old suspect, who was not identified, was arrested Friday and faces charges of theft.

"It’s unfortunate that they lost their scarecrow, but maybe… out of his own remorse, he might make them a new one," Reeves said. "If they learn anything, [it is] that stealing is wrong no matter whose it is; if it's not yours, don’t take it."

"Duck Dynasty" chronicles the lives of the Robertsons, a lovable Louisiana family that struck it rich with their Duck Commander business that makes calls for duck hunters.

Over the summer, the season four premiere attracted 11.8 million viewers, making it the most-watched nonfiction cable telecast in history, according to viewership data.

"Duck Dynasty" airs Wednesday at 10 p.m. EST on A&E.
